After 1850 we experienced the glory periods of congregation in the Netherlands. It was evident in the large number of members, communities and apostolic works.
“…The Kingdom of Heaven is like a grain of mustard seed…, which indeed is smaller than all seeds. But when it is grown, it is greater than the herbs, and becomes a tree, so that the birds of the air come and lodge in its branches (Matthew 13: 32)
In the beginning of our congregation, we recognize that the number of members in the Netherlands until 1924 developed rapidly and many convents were opened. The fire of the missionary spirit of the Sisters was burning and they were aware of the needy in Dutch society. The sisters worked hard and with passion to do their mission works both inside and outside the communities.

In the next developments, the sisters in The Netherlands ran their mission works in accordance with the needs of society in the Netherlands, among others: care homes for the elderly, social and pastoral work, a home for orphans and boarding houses for students, special care for the sick, retreat houses, a conference centre, etc.
The missionary spirit of the sisters in The Netherlands had never been limited by age, time and place. Personal and communal prayer gave very significant support for the continuation of the mission work of our Congregation.
We admire the missionary spirit of the sisters that never faded. Through various ways the sisters do the things they can do and undertake works of charity. For example: to give full support and to collect funds through “Vriendendag” (Day for Friends) in Agnietenhove, fancy fairs in the communities, to maintain contact with donors and to look for funds for Malawi, Brazil and the Philippines, as well as other projects that need funding.
