Mission in The Philippines in 2004

From Indonesia to the Philippines

It was a great step that the Indonesian province dared to take the initiative to start the mission in a new place beyond the Indonesian borders, the Philippines.

the sisters start new mission of Indonesian province
The initial reason for the Indonesian province to start the mission in the Philippines was to live and develop the spirituality of the congregation in the Philippines, especially among the people who were to be served; to foster the seeds of a vocation to the Sisters of Our Lady for the continuity of the life and mission of the Congregation.

With the support of the General Chapter and the Provincial Chapter 2000, Sr. M. Elisa Ariadini and Sr. M. Prisilia Dewi Utari were sent to the Philippines. Then on February 2nd, 2004 Baras community was officially opened. At the beginning the sisters lived in the house of a Foundation which cares for street children. The sisters worked there as volunteers while looking for other needs required by the local people. In keeping alive the spirit of Mother Julie Billiart, eventually the sisters opened and directly managed a kindergarten in Malalim.
